Chapter 11: Perceived Risk and Trust
Privacy Risk

Consumers are especially troubled by the idea that personal information they reveal to one firm could be sold and used by other companies.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation and others have established a set of online privacy principles. A web site adhering to these principles can display the TRUSTe logo. Consumers must be notified of what information is being tracked, how it will be used or shared and consumers must be able to change or delete their own information.

Activity

The TRUSTe site contains useful information about "Protecting Your Privacy Online." Visit the site and read the information. Then test your knowledge by taking their "Privacy Challenge."
