With our new Environmental PE Exam Review Version 1.0 developed by North Carolina State University, SmartPros can get you on the right path to passing the exam and earning your P.E. designation.
To help you prepare for the Environmental Engineering PE License Exam, NC State University has created a series of three DVD review sessions designed to acquaint you with the fundamental knowledge, concepts and equations you'll need to pass the Environmental PE Exam. These DVDs were developed from a series of Environmental PE Exam Review seminars held recently by engineering faculty on North Carolina State's Centennial Campus. Modules include:
MODULE 1: Water Treatment Operations and Processes Instructed by Dr. Richard O. Mines, Jr., PE Our first review module covers basic chemical concepts, water quality parameters & standards, an overview of water treatment, coagulation and flocculation, softening and sedimentation, and filtration and disinfection. Dr. Mines devotes significant review time to problem-solving techniques for the exam.
MODULE 2: Wastewater Systems Instructed by Victor A. D'Amato, PE Our second review module focuses on treatment standards, wastewater treatment, system components, loading factors, influent, flow diagrams, clarifiers, filtration, disinfection, sludge, dewatering, mass balance, and kinetics of biological growth. Mr. D’Amato also reviews Water Quality Modeling including reactor dynamics, CSTR & PFR reactors, activated sludge, trickling, BOD, Streeter-Phelps Equation, oxygen sag, aeration, oxidation, and rotating biological contactors. Mr. D'Amato discusses exam-taking tips and conversion factors and works numerous practice problems, as well.
MODULE 3: Our third review module is taught in three parts. Part One: Solid Waste and Hazardous Materials Systems Instructed by Charlie Parrish, PE
Part one includes an overview of regulations, solid waste management, land filling, incineration, and hazardous waste treatment and remediation.
Part Two: Air Quality Systems
Instructed by Charlie Parrish, PE
Part 2 covers air flow, ideal gas law, indoor air quality, stationary source, mobile source, and control technologies.
Part Three: Public Health & Safety
Instructed by Wendy Laing, CSP
Part three focuses on industrial hygiene, emergency plans, epidemiology, toxicology and radiation protection
Both Ms. Laing and Mr. Parrish devote review time to acquaint you with the fundamental knowledge, concepts and equations you need in these subject areas.
Media: Self-loading DVDs. Each of the three review modules is approximately 6 hours in duration. A CD-ROM of the instructors' notes is also enclosed. Copyright North Carolina State University 2008.
